Mario Potestio

Guitars, Composition

Mario started playing the guitar at the age of 15. In a short time he began playing professionally in clubs in his home town of Thunder Bay, Ontario. He later moved to Toronto where he attended the Humber College Music Program. There he studied composition, improvisation, and arranging with some of Canadas top jazz educators. Mario has also studied with Lorne Lofsky, and Ted Quinlan in Toronto, Ben Monder, and Rez Abbassi in New York City, as well as John Abercrombie at the Banff School of Fine Arts.

Mario has performed all across Canada, United States, and the Carribean. He has toured with the Garden Bros. Circus for 3 seasons, and has performed in venues such as SkyDome, Correll Center, and Copps Colisium. 
As well as being a busy in demand guitarist, Mario currently leads his own trio with a focus on composition and improvised music. Mario is also currently a member of the new-jazz ensemble One Big Song.
Besides being a busy performance artist, Mario is a full-time music instructor. (Humber College, Snider Music)
