Wes Neal

Bass, Composition

Wes hails from New Brunswick and has studied at St. Francis Xavier University and the New England Conservatory in Boston.
He now resides in Toronto where he is in demand in musical contexts in multiple genres.

He combines sympathetic accompaniment on song-based material with improvising instincts that put his technical command of the bass to creative use.

Wes has been part of several key groups in Toronto's creative music scene:

Ken Aldcroft's Convergence Ensemble, Out of Order, Marcel Aucoin, The Rent,
Shaw/Rampersaud/Neal/Martin, AIMToronto Orchestra,
New and Used, One Big Song, Jill Barber, and Desert City Drift.

Recent tours have included chanteuse Jill Barber, the Scott Marshall Quartet and the Convergence Ensemble.

Wes considers himself fortunate to have appeared on well over 20 recordings since his arrival in Toronto in 1998.
